Seong Il-jong: "Before Double Special Probes, We Must Stop Deaths Around Lee Jae-myung"

Seong Il-jong, the Policy Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, criticized the death of former Mr. Mo, a close aide during Lee Jae-myung's tenure as Governor of Gyeonggi Province, saying, "What secrets could there be, and what untold stories are there that Lee's closest aides keep dying like this?"

On the 10th, during an interview on KBS's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strong Current Affairs,' Seong was asked about the 'double special investigations' jointly promoted by the Democratic Party and the Justice Party. He responded, "Before talking about those double special investigations, shouldn't we first stop the deaths happening around Lee?"

The 'double special investigations' refer to the 'Daejang-dong 5 Billion Club Special Investigation' and the 'Kim Keon-hee Special Investigation,' which the Democratic Party is pushing as a party policy, with the Justice Party also joining in.

Seong said, "(Lee) has never taken political or moral responsibility for this. Now, while talking about the double special investigations, shouldn't we first stop this rally of deaths?" He added, "There is only one person responsible. That person should open their mouth first," pressuring Lee to respond. This is interpreted as a call for Lee to express his stance on the deaths of his close aides.

Regarding the 'double special investigations' promoted by the Democratic Party and the Justice Party, Seong said, "The Moon Jae-in administration's prosecution already thoroughly investigated this. At that time, Lee Jung-soo was the head of the Central District Prosecutors' Office, and Park Beom-gye was the Minister of Justice, right?" He raised his voice, saying, "But now, they are bringing this up as a political struggle and using it as a shield, yet why are they silent about these suspicious deaths around them?"

He continued, "Is there any reason to accept these special investigations now? I think the Democratic Party knows this very well," adding, "They are not even subjects of the special investigations, and the Democratic Party knows that these investigations cannot proceed now. This is just a political struggle created to shield Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party."
