Professor Choi Byung-ok of the Department of Neurology at Samsung Seoul Hospital has been appointed as the new president of the Korean Society for Neuromuscular Diseases. His term is two years.
The Korean Society for Neuromuscular Diseases is a leading society under the Korean Neurological Association, established to promote academic development in the field of neuromuscular diseases within neurology.
Aiming to diagnose and treat diseases occurring in nerves and muscles, the society has built a global reputation by continuously publishing world-class and innovative research results. It also plays a role in fostering the advancement of neuromuscular disease studies, promoting fellowship among members, advocating for their rights, and contributing to the improvement of public health through academic activities.
President Choi is recognized as a top authority on hereditary neuromuscular diseases such as distal hereditary motor neuropathy. He stated, "I will create a platform for exchange to ensure more active global academic collaboration through solid society management and nurturing young researchers, thereby strengthening the foundation of the Korean Society for Neuromuscular Diseases."
