Selling Beer at 2,000 Won per Can

Convenience stores are holding discount events on beer, snacks, beverages, and ice cream in line with the World Baseball Classic (WBC).
According to the industry on the 11th, CU exclusively launched seven types of wine representing major baseball teams from key cities in the United States. They are discounted to 12,900 won this month, and until the 15th, when the Korean national team's games are concentrated, they can be purchased at a special price of 9,900 won. For beer, 14 types of 6-can bundles and 13 types of 4-can bundles are sold at 2,000 won per can. The 6-can bundle promotion includes Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc, Edelweiss, Tsingtao, and Volpas Angel. The 4-can bundle promotion includes Hoegaarden, Budweiser, and Stella.
Seven Eleven is offering a discount event on a total of 16 types of domestic and imported beer bundle products (4- and 6-can) with up to 36% off until the 14th. Representative products include Tiger Beer Son Heung-min Special Package, Stella Artois, and Tsingtao. Mankuman Chicken offers a 20% discount when paying with Hana Card or Yogiyo this month, and during the tournament period, a 1.5L Pepsi Cola is also given as a gift. A 1+1 promotion is applied to six types of carbonated drinks including Pepsi Cola Zero and Chilsung Cider Zero, and a 2+1 promotion is held for three types of Ediya cup coffee. Gugu Cluster and Myeongga Chal Tteok Ice Home ice cream two types are offered at a 15% discount.
Emart24 is discounting 22 types of products including The Kingdom of Belgium 6 cans for 8,400 won and Tsingtao 6 cans for 12,000 won on Thursdays through Mondays, when liquor sales are high this month. Until the 15th, eight types of imported brand beer 4-can bundle products are also sold for 8,000 won. Snack products are offered with 1+1 and 2+1 free promotions. These apply to about 70 types of dried snacks such as squid and peanuts, and about 130 types of refrigerated and frozen snacks such as hot bars, makchang, gopchang, and pizza. Free gift promotions are also held for about 1,900 types of snacks and food items including beverages, snacks, dairy products, and ice cream.
An official from the convenience store industry said, “We have prepared discount events so that customers watching baseball can enjoy beer and snacks without burden,” adding, “As this is the first large-scale sports event of the year, high interest and response from customers are expected.”
