5.88 Million Visitors... Tourist Spending
Recorded a 15.4% Increase Compared to the Previous Year
Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam Province, held the ‘2022 Namhae-gun Year of Visit’ closing report meeting at the Exile Literature Museum, concluding the event in which all residents participated under the slogan ‘Come to Namhae’ over the past year.
At the report meeting held on the 9th, many residents who participated in the Year of Visit, including the Public-Private Cooperation Promotion Committee, the Official Supporters Group, the External Tourist Attraction TF Team, and the Kindness Manager Group, shared achievements and directions for improvement.
A plaque of appreciation was awarded to 18 people, including Jeong Cheol, co-chairman of the Public-Private Cooperation Promotion Committee, and Park Gyu-jin, CEO of Namhae Electric, who provided commemorative trees and unwavering cooperation during the Year of Visit. The Kindness Manager Group, which toured various parts of Namhae-gun spreading kindness and smiles, received a group plaque of appreciation.

The ‘2022 Namhae-gun Year of Visit’ officially began with the Seoul declaration ceremony in June 2021 and the Busan declaration ceremony in September 2021, with various cultural events, festivals, and activities held throughout the county.
The cumulative number of tourists reached 5,883,574, and the regional economic revitalization consumption amount (BC and Shinhan Card spending) recorded 34 billion KRW, a 15.4% increase compared to the previous year.
By sharing the importance of kindness and cleanliness, preparations were made for the upcoming ‘Great Leap Forward in Namhae-gun’s Tourism Industry,’ and the Year of Visit event itself was evaluated as a catalyst for regional economic recovery.
Governor Jang Chung-nam said, “I sincerely thank all the tourists nationwide who joined us during the Year of Visit and all the approximately 500,000 residents,” adding, “If we continue the achievements of the Namhae-gun Year of Visit and address the shortcomings, we will be able to establish ourselves as the ‘No. 1 Tourism Local Government in Korea’ in name and reality.”
Chairman Im Tae-sik of the Namhae-gun Council said, “Although there were many difficulties such as COVID-19, the Year of Visit greatly helped to recover the local economy with one heart,” and “The Namhae-gun Council will continue to do its best to revitalize the tourism industry together with the residents.”
Co-chairman Jeong Cheol of the Public-Private Promotion Committee said, “The Year of Visit has ended, but every end is always a new beginning,” and “I hope we can join forces to open a bright future for Namhae-gun.”
Namhae-gun plans to continue the achievements and passion of the Year of Visit by promoting this year as the ‘Year of Innovation in Namhae-gun Tourism Image.’
Under the slogan ‘Namhaerang Mannamhae,’ the plan is to steadily upgrade the Namhae-gun tourism brand focusing on the keywords kindness, cleanliness, convenience, emotion, and style.
