IKEA Korea Collaborates with Goodluck
Expanding to at Least One Location per Major City and Province Nationwide
Fuel Coupons Worth 5,000 KRW Available Until the 31st
GS Caltex announced on the 10th that it will expand the number of gas station pickup centers, which serve as logistics hubs, to at least one location in each major city and province nationwide.
The gas station pickup center is a small urban logistics hub utilizing the gas station network, first launched in 2021 at the Samsung-ro gas station in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and has since been expanded nationwide. Gas stations are valuable as logistics hubs because they allow easy vehicle access, convenient storage and loading of goods, and are widely distributed across the country. GS Caltex operates gas station pickup centers in collaboration with home furnishing retail company IKEA Korea and global travel luggage service Goodlugg Company.
IKEA Korea, a major tenant of GS Caltex gas station pickup centers, automatically matches products ordered through its official online mall or application (furniture products with a maximum side length not exceeding 180 cm, volume under 0.6 cubic meters, and weight under 100 kg) to the GS Caltex gas station pickup center closest to the delivery address. Customers can pick up the products directly by vehicle, offering a more affordable delivery option with a shipping fee of 9,000 KRW (29,000 KRW for Jeju).
Another tenant, Goodlugg, provides a 'door to door' service that delivers travel luggage from home to the travel destination. When luggage is dropped off at the gas station pickup center, local delivery managers collect and transport it to the airport in one go, reducing unnecessary logistics vehicle traffic.
GS Caltex currently operates in Seoul (Gangnam, Seongbuk), Gyeonggi (Uijeongbu, Pyeongtaek), Daejeon, Gwangju, Daegu, Chungnam (Cheonan), Gangwon (Wonju), and Gyeongnam (Changwon).
The newly added pickup centers are located in Seoul (Dongjak, Yeongdeungpo, Eunpyeong), Gyeonggi (Goyang, Guri, Seongnam, Suwon), Incheon (Bupyeong, Yeonsu), Daejeon, Busan, Jeju, Chungbuk (Cheongju), Gangwon (Gangneung, Chuncheon), Jeonnam (Mokpo, Yeosu), Jeonbuk (Gunsan, Jeonju), and Gyeongbuk (Gumi, Pohang), ensuring at least one pickup center in each major city and province, thereby securing numerous logistics hubs nationwide.
A GS Caltex official stated, “As consumer lifestyles change, GS Caltex is continuously seeking various collaborations through gas station pickup centers with multiple companies to expand existing gas stations into spaces offering new services.”
GS Caltex is also running a promotional event to commemorate the nationwide expansion of pickup centers. Until the 31st, IKEA customers using the gas station pickup centers will receive a 5,000 KRW fuel coupon redeemable at GS Caltex gas stations as a gift for using the pickup service.
