The prosecution announced that regarding the stock manipulation allegations involving Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, they will "investigate related individuals without any restrictions on investigation methods, including summoning Mrs. Kim for questioning."
A representative of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office investigation team stated on the 9th, "To clarify the suspicions in the Deutsche Motors case, we are continuously summoning those involved in stock manipulation as witnesses for questioning." They added, "Based on the investigation results, we will not limit the scope of investigation and will strive to clarify the matter," further noting that the same applies to Mrs. Kim. Mrs. Kim currently holds the status of a suspect in this case.
The prosecution has faced criticism for "unfair investigation" after conducting only two written inquiries into Mrs. Kim regarding the Kobana Contents sponsorship allegations and recently dismissing the case without charges. It is interpreted that the prosecution issued this fundamental stance today to quell such controversies.
Regarding the recent proposal of a special prosecution law for the 'Kim Geon-hee and Daejang-dong 5 Billion Club' by the Democratic Party of Korea, the prosecution stated, "We have conducted a significant portion of the necessary investigations and reinforced the investigation team personnel," adding, "We will strive to promptly and fairly uncover the truth of the case through focused investigations."
Concerning Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, whose arrest motion was rejected in the National Assembly, they said, "We will conduct supplementary investigations and handle the matter appropriately at the right time."
