SK Telecom announced on the 9th that it has started providing public support for local residents in Hapcheon-gun, where a level 3 wildfire response has been issued.
The wildfire occurred the previous day in Wolpyeong-ri, Yongju-myeon, Hapcheon-gun, and spread rapidly due to strong winds, prompting the Korea Forest Service to issue a level 3 wildfire alert. In response, Hapcheon-gun sent emergency disaster safety messages to residents.
SKT delivered relief supplies including 20 emergency relief boxes, 200 hot packs, 200 wet wipes, and 100 bottles of water to the village hall in Nag-i Village, Jang-gye-ri, Hapcheon-eup, where residents are evacuating.
Additionally, SKT operated a charging booth at the wildfire command post, where about 200 people including firefighters, the Korea Forest Service, police, the county office, and volunteers gathered, and provided relief supplies such as hot packs and wet wipes there as well.
SKT plans to continue supporting local residents until the wildfire is completely extinguished.
Meanwhile, SKT stated that there has been no damage to wired or wireless networks due to this wildfire.
