Asiana Airlines Accelerates Normalization of China Routes... "Increasing to 89 Weekly Flights"

Asiana Airlines announced on the 9th that it will begin full-scale frequency increases this month to normalize its China routes.


In response to the government's easing of quarantine measures for arrivals from China, Asiana Airlines is proactively addressing travel demand to China by increasing operations to 89 weekly flights across 17 major China routes. Starting with one additional flight on the Shenzhen route on the 6th, the airline has increased flights from 10 weekly flights on 9 routes to 25 weekly flights on 13 routes. It has resumed routes to Guangzhou, Qingdao, Xi'an, and Tianjin, which had been suspended for three years due to COVID-19.


From the 26th, when the summer schedule takes effect, Asiana Airlines will significantly increase flights on major China routes such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. The Gimpo~Shanghai (Hongqiao) and Yanji routes will operate 7 times a week, Shenzhen 3 times a week, and Tianjin, Harbin, Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Xi'an routes 2 times a week.

Starting from the 17th of next month, the Dalian route will operate 4 times a week, and from the 24th of the same month, the Gimpo~Beijing route will resume with 7 weekly flights and the Changsha route with 4 weekly flights, increasing total operations to 89 weekly flights.


Asiana Airlines plans to accelerate the reopening of its China routes by raising the recovery rate of China route operations from the previous level of about 5% to approximately 50%. An Asiana Airlines official stated, “This frequency increase will be a starting point for fully restoring the Incheon~China routes,” adding, “We will continue to actively expand operations to serve as a bridge for economic cooperation between the two countries.”
