First Supreme Council Meeting After Leadership Entry
"Reviving Livelihoods is the Top Priority"
"Japan's Reflection Insufficient but For Future Generations"
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, held his first Supreme Council meeting after being elected on the 9th and stated, "The leadership's mission, as everyone well knows without needing much explanation, is a landslide victory in next year's general election and the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration."
The People Power Party completed the formation of a new leadership team through the 3rd party convention held the previous day, marking one year since President Yoon Seok-yeol's election and eight months after the former leadership under Lee Jun-seok.
Leader Kim said, "From this very moment, we must not waste even a single minute or second and begin preparations for next year's general election," adding, "We will definitely achieve a landslide victory to reclaim the National Assembly taken by the Democratic Party and rebuild the future of the Republic of Korea."

The strategy for winning the general election is to revive people's livelihoods. Kim emphasized, "Politics is about solving the people's issues related to their livelihood," and stressed, "First, second, and third is people's livelihood."
He pointed out, "Issues such as inflation, employment, housing prices, and exports, all economic indicators are not very good," and criticized, "The anti-livelihood and anti-economic laws left by the Democratic Party government and the Moon Jae-in administration are hampering the Yoon Seok-yeol government's efforts to improve people's livelihoods in various areas." He added, "However, we cannot just keep blaming the Democratic Party government and the Moon Jae-in administration that ruined the state affairs," and emphasized, "Behind our People Power Party are the people and party members who support and encourage us. Believing in that strength, our leadership must take the lead in taking care of people's livelihoods."
He also stated that labor reform, which the Yoon Seok-yeol administration is promoting, will be addressed as the top priority, followed by pension and education reforms.
Regarding recent solutions to the forced labor victim issue, he said, "It is largely in line with the plan previously proposed by the Democratic Party and is a decision made for a future-oriented Korea-Japan relationship," adding, "The past cannot be changed, but the future can. The United States and the European Union have also unanimously welcomed this." He continued, "It is true that Japan's apology and reflection on the pain and wounds left to us are not sufficient, but nonetheless, for the sake of future generations, the future of Korea-Japan relations must be newly written."
