Visitation with New Leadership and Over 30 Members Including Floor Leaders
Party Appointments to Be Made "After the Weekend"

Kim Ki-hyun, the newly appointed leader of the People Power Party, visited the National Seoul Memorial Cemetery on the 9th for his first official schedule.

On that morning, Kim visited the National Seoul Memorial Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, to pay his respects. Wearing a black suit and black tie, Kim walked solemnly to the Memorial Tower with his lips tightly closed, laid flowers, offered incense, and commemorated the patriotic martyrs. A wreath labeled "People Power Party Leader Kim Ki-hyun" was placed in front of the Memorial Tower.

In the guestbook at the cemetery, he wrote, "Only the people's livelihood, we will create a nation where all citizens prosper together."

Afterwards, Kim visited the graves of former Presidents Kim Young-sam, Park Chung-hee, Kim Dae-jung, and Syngman Rhee in order. Despite the drizzling weather, Kim completed his visit without using an umbrella.

At a meeting with reporters, Kim asked for understanding, saying, "It is not very appropriate to discuss political issues in front of the graves of the deceased."

When asked about plans for party appointments, he replied, "I need to consult with the Supreme Council members and proceed," adding, "I don't think there will be an announcement today; it will probably be after the weekend."

About 30 people attended the visit to the cemetery, including the new leadership such as Supreme Council members Kim Byung-min, Kim Jae-won, Cho Soo-jin, Tae Young-ho, and youth Supreme Council member Jang Ye-chan, as well as floor leader Joo Ho-young, Secretary-General Kim Seok-ki, Policy Committee Chairperson Sung Il-jong, Deputy Floor Leader Song Eon-seok, Deputy Secretary-General for Organization Eom Tae-young, Chief Spokesperson Yang Geum-hee, Floor Leader Secretary-General Jeong Hee-yong, Floor Spokesperson Kim Mi-ae, and lawmakers Bae Hyun-jin and Seo Jeong-sook, along with Kim Yong-tae, head of the Yeouido Research Institute. Member of the National Assembly Gu Ja-geun, who was appointed as Secretary-General, and former National Assembly Deputy Speaker Shim Jae-cheol, who served as the permanent election campaign committee chairman, also stood beside Kim.

After paying respects at the cemetery, Kim held his first Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly, then met with Lee Jin-bok, Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Office, and planned to have lunch with the new leadership.
