No Child Left Behind... Busan Office of Education Launches Hope Ladder Initiative

Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is set to create a detailed educational support ladder to ensure that not a single child is left out of educational services.

To reduce the economic burden on parents from vulnerable groups and strengthen the public nature of education, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will enhance support for children from vulnerable groups in areas such as 'school trip expenses,' 'field trip expenses,' and 'graduation album expenses.'

No Child Left Behind... Busan Office of Education Launches Hope Ladder Initiative Busan Office of Education.

The Busan Office of Education will provide a total budget of 28.4 billion KRW, including 21 billion KRW for school trip expenses, 6.7 billion KRW for field trip expenses, and 700 million KRW for graduation album expenses.

Until the previous academic year, school trip expenses were supported at 210,000 KRW per student for 6th graders in elementary school, 220,000 KRW for 2nd graders in middle school, and 400,000 KRW for 2nd graders in high school. Starting from the 2023 academic year, full expenses will be covered for children from vulnerable groups.

Additionally, full support for 'field trip expenses' will be provided to children from vulnerable groups in grades that do not have school trips: 4th and 5th grades in elementary school, 1st and 3rd grades in middle school, and 1st and 3rd grades in high school.

From this year, to create precious memories during school years, graduation album expenses of up to 70,000 KRW per student will also be supported for children from vulnerable groups in 6th grade elementary, 3rd grade middle, and 3rd grade high school.

Ha Yoon-su, Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, “We will continue to provide detailed and careful support to vulnerable areas and groups so that economic difficulties do not become obstacles to students achieving their dreams,” and added, “We will ensure that only students’ efforts become the sole condition for realizing their dreams by providing full support without any shortcomings.”
