Seoul City Announces Recruitment for 'Naechingu Seoul' Child Reporters

Participation in Article Writing and Children's Newspaper Publication

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 9th that it has begun recruiting this year's child reporters who will participate in the publication of the children's newspaper "Naechingu Seoul" published by the city. The applicants must be students from 3rd to 6th grade in Seoul elementary schools, and the application period is until the 23rd.

Selected child reporters will receive a press ID and reporter's notebook and can write articles on the Naechingu Seoul website while participating in reporting activities. Outstanding articles written on the Naechingu Seoul website will be published in the "Naechingu Seoul" children's newspaper and also delivered through the Naechingu Seoul newsletter (with about 70,000 subscribers) sent to subscribers.Child reporters can participate in the launching ceremony, field reporting, interviews, and reporters who actively participate may receive a commendation from the Mayor of Seoul.

Last year, "Naechingu Seoul" child reporters visited places such as Jamsil Sports Complex, Seoul Energy Dream Center, Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, and Gwanghwamun Square to participate in reporting. In particular, in April, they took part in the Tim Burton special exhibition and had a meeting with director Tim Burton. They also interviewed broadcaster Jang Doyeon, veterinarian Ha Minjong from the Seoul Wildlife Center, and artists from the DDP media art exhibition.

Choi Wonseok, Director of Public Relations Planning at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, said, “By participating as a Naechingu Seoul child reporter, children will have the opportunity to broadly experience the world outside of school and improve their writing and literacy skills. We hope they develop an interest in the Seoul they live in and have valuable experiences making friends with children from other schools.”
