Upstage's ChatGPT with Eyes 'AskUp' Surpasses 30,000 KakaoTalk Friends

Upstage's ChatGPT with Eyes 'AskUp' Surpasses 30,000 KakaoTalk Friends

AI startup Upstage is leading the popularization of artificial intelligence (AI).

Upstage announced on the 9th that 'AskUp,' which combines optical character recognition (OCR) technology and ChatGPT, gained 30,000 channel friends within just three days of launching on KakaoTalk.

AskUp is based on Upstage's generative AI chatbot 'ChatGPT' combined with Upstage's OCR technology. When users take a photo of or send a document, it can read, understand, and respond to the content, making it a kind of 'ChatGPT with eyes.'

Upstage's OCR technology accurately recognizes characters regardless of various fonts or backgrounds. Through this, users can send text documents or handwritten images to AskUp and receive translated content along with answers. It can also handle various documents such as study materials, business registration certificates, and contracts, allowing users to ask questions and obtain necessary information or process text.

AskUp can gradually engage in conversations tailored to the user's personality, like making friends, depending on the questions asked. For example, if you ask, "How's the weather today?" it provides current weather information for your location along with suitable clothing or activity recommendations. If you say, "I'm feeling good today," it may ask why or respond with congratulations.

In the future, Upstage plans to apply various technologies, including 'Seargest' (a combination of Suggest and Search), to develop long-term memory and implement a feature that recommends relevant information from past conversations. For instance, if you ask, "Where was the barbecue company dinner last fall?" it will refer to previous conversations to provide an answer.

Kim Seong-hoon, CEO of Upstage, said, "AskUp is a service that demonstrates the potential for communication and collaboration between AI and humans, and we want many people to experience the convenience and fun of AI." He added, "We will lead the popularization of AI so that the entire nation can overcome the hurdles of using AI in daily life and rise to a higher level in the AI era."
