Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom is embarking on his first overseas business trip since the start of his term.


On the 9th, Ulsan City announced that Mayor Kim will lead a delegation on the first overseas tour of the 8th term of the local government.


The Ulsan City delegation will visit four cities in three countries from the 9th to the 18th: Bangkok in Thailand, Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and Dammam in Saudi Arabia.


Mayor Kim will join the delegation a day later on the 10th due to official schedule conflicts and plans to build an overseas investment attraction network. Discussions will also focus on cooperation for sustainable growth, including energy-related companies, fostering the clean energy hydrogen industry, and reducing carbon emissions.

On the 10th in Bangkok, he will visit the Asia-Pacific office of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to discuss Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects. He will encourage a young intern from Ulsan currently working at the FAO, who was dispatched through Ulsan City's pioneering international organization internship program. Following this, he will attend a meeting at the Korean Embassy in Thailand to discuss economic, tourism, and cultural exchanges.


On the 14th, he will visit Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates to hold a roundtable with the state-owned oil company ADNOC for sustainable growth and a meeting with Ulsan-based companies operating in the UAE. He will also attend a meeting hosted by the Korean Ambassador to the UAE.


On the 16th, through an official invitation from Amin Hassan Nasser, CEO of Aramco, he will visit Dammam, Saudi Arabia, to express gratitude for the investment decision on the Shahin project and discuss cooperation and support to build a partnership.


On the 17th, he will visit Dubai in the UAE to sign MOUs with ‘Chilbo Crafts’ company ‘Chloe Su’ and ‘Economic Group Holdings,’ the first companies from the region to enter the UAE market.


Following this, Ulsan City plans to sign a trade cooperation MOU with ‘Economic Group Holdings’ to establish a foothold for targeting the Middle Eastern market.


An official from Ulsan City stated, “Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom considers himself Ulsan’s first salesperson with the philosophy that the answer lies in the field.” He added, “With this philosophy, he will personally introduce Ulsan overseas and lead the establishment of investment cooperation networks. By dispatching the delegation, we plan to achieve successful investment outcomes and help Ulsan become a global leading city.”
