Actual 'Ojingeo Game' Held in Hong Kong... Fully Booked Within a Day A scene from Netflix's "Squid Game"

A real-life 'Squid Game' with 100 participants will be held in Hong Kong.

On the 8th, the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong announced that, together with the Korean Sports Association in Hong Kong, it will host the 'Korea Game: Squid Olympics' at Wan Chai Stadium from 3:30 PM on the 12th of this month.

A total of 20 teams and 100 participants are expected to take part in this event. Participants will enjoy more than 10 different traditional Korean games featured in the Netflix Korean drama 'Squid Game,' including Mugunghwa Flower Has Bloomed, Dalgona Candy Challenge, Ttakji Chigi, and Tug of War.

Originally, this event was scheduled to be held in November last year but was canceled due to the national mourning period following the Itaewon tragedy in Korea.

According to the Korean Cultural Center, the recruitment for this event, held last year and this year, was filled within a day of opening. More than 300 applicants gathered within hours for the 100 available spots.

Regarding this, the Korean Cultural Center explained, "Last year, when we accepted participants on a first-come, first-served basis, hundreds of people rushed in instantly, so this year we selected participants based on their application content," adding, "We chose those who sincerely wrote about their enthusiasm to fully engage in the games."

At this Squid Olympics event, the first-place team will be awarded a prize of approximately 1 million KRW, and prizes will be given up to third place.

Meanwhile, the drama series 'Squid Game' also recorded the number one viewership ranking in Hong Kong in 2021, gaining explosive popularity.
