Naju City and KEPCO MCS Co., Ltd. Join Hands to Identify and Support Vulnerable Groups

Jeonnam Naju City and KEPCO MCS Co., Ltd. (President Jeong Seong-jin) have joined hands to discover and support vulnerable households in welfare blind spots.


The city announced on the 8th that it signed a 'Business Agreement for Discovering and Supporting Vulnerable Groups' with KEPCO MCS Co., Ltd. at the Ihwa Room in the city hall on the 7th.

Established in March 2019, KEPCO MCS Co., Ltd. is a public institution engaged in power field services and electricity meter-related businesses, contributing to the efficient use of electricity by the public through related public services such as electricity meter reading, billing, delinquency management, and customer consultation.


The two organizations will leverage their operational characteristics and strengths to discover and collaborate on vulnerable groups.


Employees (16 people) of the KEPCO MCS Naju branch, headquartered in Naju, will visit all households in Naju City once a month to provide electricity meter reading services and monitor the living conditions of vulnerable groups in need of support.


KEPCO MCS plans to request emergency support in connection with the Naju City Hope Welfare Support Team when power disconnections occur due to livelihood conditions.


To establish an efficient collaboration and promotion system, 104 employees including President Jeong Seong-jin were appointed as 'Honorary Social Welfare Officers' at the signing ceremony.


Jeong Seong-jin, President of KEPCO MCS Co., Ltd., stated, “We will take the lead in discovering and supporting vulnerable households and strive to fulfill the social responsibility of public institutions and implement a sustainable social contribution value system.”


KEPCO MCS Co., Ltd. has continuously carried out various contribution projects for vulnerable groups, such as holding kimchi-sharing events at the end of last year, supporting briquettes and daily necessities for low-income households, supporting daily necessities and facility replacements at Geumseongwon (a child welfare facility).


Mayor Yoon Byung-tae said, “This is a time when various human safety nets are needed to proactively and efficiently respond to increasing social risks such as low-income poverty, care, crisis, and housing problems,” and added, “It is expected that an efficient collaboration system for discovering and supporting vulnerable groups will be established through information sharing between the two organizations.”
