2023 LG OLED TV Launch
Leading Premium Market with Brighter 'OLED Evo'
Samsung Electronics Also Releases OLED TV on 9th After 10 Years
Marking the 10th anniversary of OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV launches, LG Electronics is set to solidify its 'OLED throne' with more refined new products. As Samsung Electronics re-enters the OLED market, LG plans to strengthen its position in the premium TV market with its accumulated technological expertise.
On the 8th, LG Electronics unveiled its 2023 OLED TV lineup. This year’s LG OLED TVs consist of a total of 7 series and 29 models, including ▲brighter and clearer OLED Evo (G·C series) ▲B·A series offering a wider range of choices with reasonable specifications ▲M series eliminating complicated cables ▲and R·Z series featuring top technological innovations such as rollable and 8K models.

OLED TVs are classified as premium TVs because they can be 2 to 3 times more expensive than LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs of the same size. Currently, Samsung Electronics leads the global overall TV market, but LG Electronics holds nearly 60% market share in the highly profitable OLED TV segment. According to market research firm Omdia, global OLED TV shipments reached about 6.5 million units last year, with LG OLED TV shipments at 3.824 million units, maintaining the No. 1 position for 10 consecutive years. As of 2022, cumulative shipments reached 15 million units, overwhelmingly ranking first worldwide.
This year, LG Electronics plans to maintain its position as the 'absolute leader in OLED' by first launching the brighter and clearer LG OLED Evo (83·77·65·55G3) based on 'brightness enhancement technology.' A new 97-inch model, the world’s largest size, will also be released within the year. The 65-inch OLED Evo is approximately 70% brighter than a standard OLED TV of the same screen size, with reduced light reflection and screen glare compared to existing models in the same class.
LG Electronics will also successively release LG OLED Evo (83·77·65·55·48·42C3), including the 48-inch model that created a new market for gaming TVs and the world’s smallest 42-inch model. Additionally, LG will sequentially launch standard OLED TVs (77·65·55·48A3) to expand customer choices for self-emissive OLED picture quality. The world’s first 4K·120Hz wireless transmission solution-equipped 'LG Signature OLED M' is also planned for release within the year.

Park Hyung-se, head of LG Electronics’ HE Business Division, said, "Based on 10 years of solid leadership in OLED, we will further evolve the essential value unique to LG OLED TVs," adding, "Under the vision of 'Sync to You, Open to All,' we will continue to present differentiated customer experiences unique to LG TVs, including OLED and QNED."
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics plans to launch OLED TVs applying next-generation display Quantum Dot (QD)-OLED alongside Neo QLED 8K and Neo QLED TVs in Korea on the 9th. Omdia forecasts global OLED TV shipments to increase by 14% this year to 7.41 million units compared to the previous year.
