Daegu's Son Jeonheon Named 'Couple Sharing Leader'
"Please Use My Wife's Precious Legacy Well"
"I want to donate the gold left by my late wife."
At the end of February, a call came to the Daegu Community Chest of Korea. It was Mr. Son Jeonheon asking to use the gold left by his deceased wife for neighbors in need.
When Mr. Son visited the office, he brought 13 pieces of pure gold, each weighing 10 don. His wife, Kim Hyunhwa, who had been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, handed over the gold she had collected throughout her life for her husband, who was left alone, saying, "When life is difficult, sell them one by one to help with living expenses." It was a wife's love for her husband who was not financially well-off.

Struggling with the grief of losing his wife, Mr. Son could not bring himself to sell the gold left as an inheritance. Tears often came as he thought of his wife, who worried about treatment costs even on her sickbed and about leaving him alone. After much contemplation about the gold, he decided to donate it to help neighbors in need. The value amounts to about 38 million won in cash.
Mr. Son Jeonheon and the late Kim Hyunhwa have been registered as the 98th and 99th couple sharing leaders at the Daegu Community Chest of Korea.
Mr. Son said, "I wanted to do something good for my wife who left without receiving proper treatment because she saved on medical expenses worrying about me being left alone before she died. I hope the precious inheritance left by my wife will be used for good causes and that she will be happy in heaven."
Kang Juhyun, Secretary General of the Daegu Social Welfare Community Chest, said, "The decision to donate the inheritance left by the late wife to help neighbors in need deeply moves our hearts. We will ensure that this noble donation is delivered well to those in need."
