Genesis BBQ Group announced on the 8th that it plans to provide sustainable water and relief food supplies to 100,000 people in Africa, which is struggling with water shortages, by 2030.

BBQ's I Love Africa donation campaign raises funds through a "matching fund" system, where both the headquarters and family (franchise stores) each contribute 10 won, totaling 20 won, every time chicken is ordered. Since 2018, they have been steadily providing practical support to Africa.

The donated funds are used for projects such as well development, installation of drinking water tanks, relief food support, and medical welfare support in African regions. In particular, through well development and installation of drinking water tanks, they have supplied drinking water to 50,000 people and plan to provide additional support to 100,000 people by 2030.

To this end, they are developing groundwater wells by drawing up groundwater from a depth of 120 meters, building towers, installing water tanks, and attaching faucets. They are also planning additional expansion by developing large rainwater catchment reservoirs suitable for indigenous villages in desert areas and pump wells that find underground water in coastal areas and draw it up relatively easily with pumps, creating groundwater development methods tailored to each region.

Yoon Hong-geun, Chairman of BBQ, said, "I wanted to help African children and residents in a practical way," adding, "Since they needed drinking water, instead of simply buying bottled water with money, we developed wells to provide a sustainable and fundamental solution. We carefully examined and created support measures to improve the quality of life for children and local residents who are in urgent need of help."

Meanwhile, BBQ plans to increase family participation for additional support for I Love Africa. To this end, they are making company-wide efforts to encourage participation by explaining existing activities in detail at family meetings and enabling customers to check donation stores when they open delivery apps.
