SK On has decided to provide all employees with an encouragement bonus of '3 million KRW + 10% of their annual salary' instead of performance bonuses.
According to industry sources, Choi Jae-won, Senior Vice Chairman of SK On, stated in an email to employees on the 7th, "We decided to provide this (encouragement bonus) to reward the hard work and dedication shown by our members and to express our desire to continue the journey together."
Vice Chairman Choi said, "Our members are the source and driving force behind SK On's growth," adding, "Although it may be modest compared to the efforts of our members, we hope that this small consolation and encouragement bonus will provide some comfort and motivation."
SK On plans to pay the encouragement bonus this month, which amounts to 10% of last year's annual salary plus 3 million KRW.
Having recorded a deficit of 1 trillion KRW last year, SK On was unable to pay any performance bonuses, leading to significant dissatisfaction among employees. Vice Chairman Choi said, "Since the beer party last December, we have been somewhat distant from our members, so we will soon arrange a town hall meeting to directly explain SK On's vision and direction, turnaround plans, and initial public offering (IPO) plans."
