Gumi City in Gyeongbuk will record the KBS National Singing Contest Gumi City edition at 2 p.m. on March 28 at the Saemaeul Movement Theme Park Lawn Square in Sangmo Sagok-dong. (In case of rain, at the Park Chung-hee Gymnasium)
The KBS National Singing Contest Gumi City edition will be hosted by MC Kim Shin-young, featuring invited singers Kim Yeon-ja, Kim Hee-jae, Shin Seung-tae, Hi-ryang, and Oh Yoo-jin, who will deliver an enjoyable performance for people of all ages.
Prior to the recording, the preliminary audition will be held at 1 p.m. on March 26 at the Gumi Culture and Arts Center Grand Performance Hall. Fifteen teams will be selected to advance to the finals after the first and second rounds of judging by KBS officials.
Any Gumi citizen can participate, and those wishing to join can apply by visiting their nearest eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare center in person from March 6 to 15.
The National Singing Contest is a representative popular program of KBS with a 43-year history, and it will be held again in Gumi after four years since 2019.
Through this event, the city hopes to mark a successful leap as a global economic city with the opening of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport, and to widely promote its strength as a 'prepared center for K-new industries' by designating a semiconductor specialized complex and attracting a defense industry innovation cluster.
A Gumi city official stated that, as this is an event involving many participants, they plan to closely cooperate with related organizations such as the Gumi Police Station, and also urged participants to follow the organizers' guidance to ensure a safe and orderly event.
