Busan Gijang-gun has confirmed 1,850 recipients for the ‘2023 Gijang-gun Health Promotion Project’ to support the health of residents in the era of longevity.
Gijang-gun received a total of 2,755 applications from local residents for health checkups from January 2 to January 13.
Subsequently, on the 22nd of last month, the ‘Health Promotion Project Recipient Review Committee’ held a meeting to finalize 1,850 recipients and select 391 as preliminary candidates.
Residents selected as health checkup recipients can choose between a ‘Comprehensive Cancer Screening (6 Major Cancers Common Among Koreans)’ or a ‘Detailed Cerebrovascular Examination’ and receive a health checkup worth approximately 800,000 KRW at the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences.
Among them, ▲ seniors aged 65 and over ▲ national merit recipients ▲ basic livelihood security recipients ▲ lower-income brackets ▲ single-parent families ▲ registered disabled persons receive full support for the 800,000 KRW examination cost. Residents aged 40 and over who do not meet these conditions receive 700,000 KRW in support and pay only 100,000 KRW out-of-pocket for the high-cost examination.
The Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences will contact individuals in order of notification from Gijang-gun to schedule examination dates, and health checkups will be conducted from March 6 to December 31 this year.
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “Health checkups are very important for early detection and prevention of diseases. I hope that the health checkup support project will raise awareness of health management among local residents and spread a culture of health promotion. We will continue to promote various resident health support projects to help residents lead healthy lives.”
The ‘Gijang-gun Resident Health Promotion Project’ is a program that supports residents’ health checkup costs in cooperation with the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences for a healthy life. Over the past 13 years, it has invested 1 billion KRW annually from the county budget, supporting a total of over 12 billion KRW in examination costs, and by 2022, more than 18,000 residents had benefited.
On October 27, 2022, the county signed the ‘Gijang-gun Resident Health Promotion Project Agreement’ with the Dongnam Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences and plans to invest a total of 3.6 billion KRW from the county budget over the next three years (2023?2025) to provide health checkup opportunities to 1,850 residents annually.
