Homibando Peninsula, Spectacular Scene Ahead of the End Opening Ceremony

Full Bloom of Canola Flowers from Mid-March to Mid-April

At the easternmost tip of the Korean Peninsula, rapeseed flowers imbued with the scent of spring have begun to burst into bloom all at once in Homigot.

Yellow Waves Bringing Spring News, Pohang Homigot Canola Flowers in Full Bloom As of March, the canola flowers in the Homiban-do Scenic Agriculture Complex have begun to bloom.

The rapeseed flowers in Homigot are expected to be in full bloom by mid-March, creating a spectacular sight, and they are likely to be seen blooming until mid-April.


The Homihan Peninsula Landscape Agriculture Complex, established in 2018, has provided a variety of attractions each year with over 100,000 pyeong of rapeseed flowers, colored barley, buckwheat flowers, sunflowers, and more. This year, the complex is planned to be expanded to 50 hectares (150,000 pyeong).


Pohang City plans to hold the ‘2023 Homihan Peninsula Rapeseed Flower Opening Ceremony’ at the Homihan Peninsula Landscape Agriculture Complex around late March, when Homigot is in full bloom.


Along with this, ahead of the official opening, craft experience events using rapeseed such as soap making and wreath making will be held over two days on the 18th and 19th as side events, and various attractions including night viewing and cultural performances will be showcased.


Additionally, to revitalize landscape agriculture, the construction of the Guryongpo Landscape Agriculture Specialty Products Experience and Sales Center, which has been underway since last year, has been completed and preparations for the opening ceremony are underway.


Yu Wookjae, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We hope many tourists visit this place where the fully bloomed rapeseed flowers and the sea harmonize to enjoy the charm of Pohang,” and added, “We will strive to contribute to the economic revitalization of farmers and local residents by showcasing various landscape crops throughout the four seasons and developing it into a premium tourist attraction.”
