Dongseo University Selected as an 'Education Internationalization Competency Certified University' by the Ministry of Education

Dongseo University has been selected as an ‘Internationalization Competency Certified University’ by meeting the evaluation criteria of the ‘2023 Internationalization Competency Certification System’ (IEQAS) organized by the Ministry of Education.

The ‘Internationalization Competency Certification System’ is a program by the Ministry of Education that certifies universities with a certain level of internationalization competency to manage higher education institutions and expand the attraction of excellent foreign students.

This selection evaluated various areas including illegal stay rate as a basic requirement, internationalization strategy and selection, foreign student support, and foreign student management and performance.

Selected universities receive benefits such as ▲simplification of visa issuance procedures for foreign students ▲additional points when selected as a university for government scholarship students ▲preferential participation in overseas Korean study abroad fairs ▲autonomy in selecting foreign students.

Additionally, the list is published domestically and internationally in 11 languages on official Ministry of Education websites such as the Korea Study Abroad Comprehensive System, and is provided for use by the Ministry of Justice and foreign governments.

Since Dongseo University was first selected in 2014 for the ‘Internationalization Competency Certification System,’ it has continuously maintained the certification, and according to this evaluation result, the certification for degree programs and language training courses will be maintained until February 2026.

President Jang Je-guk said, “We are pleased that Dongseo University’s internationalization competency has been officially recognized as a result of actively attracting foreign students and making efforts for them by developing various educational models,” and added, “Based on this certification, we will accelerate the attraction of excellent foreign students and enhance our status as a global university through systematic management.”
