Kim Dohyung, the representative of the 'Anti-JMS Exodus' who has been involved in the anti-Christian Gospel Mission Society (JMS) movement for 30 years, shared the reasons behind his anti-JMS activism. Upon discovering that there were numerous victims, including his then-girlfriend who was an evangelist, Kim said he could not stand by and watch the situation unfold.

Kim, who first joined JMS in 1995 at a friend's recommendation, realized that JMS was different from regular churches. On the 7th, during CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' Kim stated, "The sermons by JMS leader Jeong Myeong-seok were absurd beyond common sense. When I looked into it, there had already been expos?s of sexual assault on female college students more than a decade ago." He added, "I persuaded my then-girlfriend, who was an evangelist, to leave the group, but it turned out she had been a victim even before meeting me."

Kim continued, "As I dug deeper, I found out that crimes beyond imagination, such as sexual assault and threats involving kidnapping victims to cemeteries to silence them, had been occurring since the 1980s." He said, "I thought, how could such things happen in this world? I absolutely could not let this continue, so I started fighting against it."

Kim said that JMS uses intimacy to recruit new members. He claimed, "A common characteristic of cults is that when they recruit new members, they make them feel close so that the new member cuts off their social connections." He added, "The more innocent and kind-hearted the person is, the deeper they get drawn in."

Kim explained, "Members and leaders recruit women who fit Jeong Myeong-seok’s preferences in front of girls' high schools and women's universities." He said, "After forming intimacy, they conduct doctrinal education to brainwash them into believing Jeong Myeong-seok is the Second Coming of Jesus, the Messiah. Once the education reaches a certain level, sexual assault follows under the guise of interviews." He added, "Sexual assault is carried out under pretenses like health checkups or prayers." He also said, "There are so many filthy things that are hard to even mention on air."

Kim explained, "The first woman who experiences sexual assault is shocked and confused, but women who have already built trust with the victim gaslight her by saying things like, 'Let’s pray together. God may have used the leader’s body to love you.'"

He also pointed out that "elites are accomplices." Kim said, "They first recruited students from prestigious universities, and I consider these people almost accomplices." He added, "They refined the doctrine. Jeong Myeong-seok is neither good-looking nor articulate, and his highest level of education is elementary school."

Kim said, "His unattractiveness actually becomes part of his charm," adding, "Just as Jesus was born in a manger, the Messiah must come in a humble form in the eyes of the world."

Kim expressed regret over the delayed legal battles involving victims with Hong Kong and Australian nationalities. He said, "Since he was detained last October, the verdict should have been reached by the end of April, but victim testimonies have not yet been given, which is frustrating." He added, "An Australian victim keeps asking me, 'I hope the trial ends soon. When will I be released?'"

Jeong Myeong-seok, the JMS leader, was arrested and indicted last October 28 on charges including quasi-rape. Recently, the JMS episode was revealed through the Netflix documentary series 'I Am God: People Betrayed by God,' sparking social repercussions.
