Fourteen second-year mechanical engineering students from Busan Mechanical Technical High School in Haeundae-gu, Busan, all passed the ship classification welding certification exam conducted last month by the UK Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA).
Last year, second-year mechanical engineering students at Busan Mechanical Technical High School were the first high school students nationwide to take the exam and all passed, and this year, they all passed again.
Students from Busan Mechanical Technical High School and related personnel who passed the Lloyd's Register certification welding test are taking a group commemorative photo.
Lloyd's Register is a global classification society that handles technical evaluation related to design certification, inspection, safety, and reliability for ships, general industry, and railways.
Passing this exam grants international recognition of welding skills not only domestically but also overseas, providing many benefits when applying for overseas professional engineer exams or employment.
The exam is more demanding than the school curriculum, so students participated in after-school classes on weekends and during vacations, practicing intensively.
Based on their certificates of passing, the students plan to participate in global field training in Australia and further challenge themselves with employment opportunities locally in Australia.
