Ulsan City Targets 'Content Industry' as Future Growth Engine

Hyundai Heavy Industries and KOTRA Collaboration to Foster Growth Environment

Content Facility Development Program Launching from March

Ulsan City is accelerating the development of the content industry as a future growth engine.

On the 6th, Ulsan City, in collaboration with the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, held the "2023 Integrated Briefing Session on Content Support Projects" at the Ulsan Content Enterprise Support Center, attended by about 60 content company representatives and related personnel to explain this year's city content-related projects.

Through this event, the plan is to create a growth environment for content companies and expand their capabilities by cooperating with the region's main industries and supporting overseas expansion.

Ulsan City Targets 'Content Industry' as Future Growth Engine Integrated briefing session for the content support project organized by Ulsan City.

Ulsan City established Content Korea Lab in 2019, and last year opened the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, Ulsan Content Enterprise Support Center, Ulsan Global Game Center, and Ulsan Webtoon Campus. It has made efforts to lay the groundwork for fostering the content industry by equipping most of the regional content facilities promoted by the central government.

Through the content industry, last year it attracted 27 companies, created 46 jobs, achieved sales of about 1.3 billion KRW, and secured 34 intellectual property rights.

Based on these achievements, Ulsan City plans to develop specialized content linked to Ulsan's main industries this year, provide opportunities for companies to enter overseas markets, and lead the growth of the content industry through diverse and active corporate support.

In January, Hyundai Heavy Industries and the Promotion Agency signed a business agreement to strengthen competitiveness in the shipbuilding and marine industries and foster the content industry.

Based on this, they plan to collaborate with content companies to develop ship operation and safety management content based on VR technology.

In addition to shipbuilding and marine industries, content linked to main industries such as automobiles and chemicals will also be developed to advance a content industry specialized for Ulsan.

In March, the Ulsan branch of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency and the Promotion Agency signed a business agreement to foster content companies and support overseas expansion. Subsequently, Ulsan companies will participate in export consultation meetings and exhibitions hosted by KOTRA to provide opportunities for overseas expansion.

Each content industry facility owned by Ulsan City, such as Content Korea Lab and Ulsan Content Enterprise Support Center, will operate multifaceted programs including △support for content and prototype development △customized consulting for securing intellectual property rights △strengthening investment capabilities and talent training education △expanding domestic and international sales channels and marketing support.
