Hwasun-gun, Recruiting Participants for the National Succulent Gardening Competition

Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that it is recruiting participants for the '2023 National Succulent Gardening Competition' until the 31st of this month.

The county is preparing a successful local festival by linking the 'Hwasun Dolmen Festival with Spring Flowers' and the companion plant contest.

The '2023 National Succulent Gardening Competition,' themed around succulents, a representative companion plant, is scheduled to take place for six days from the 21st to the 26th of next month within the event venue of the 'Hwasun Dolmen Festival with Spring Flowers.'

The first round of document screening will select 48 teams (including 10 preliminary teams) through a photo contest, and the second round of on-site evaluation on April 20 will determine the competition rankings and award prize money.

The judging criteria include ▲gardening artistry ▲plant shape and overall appearance ▲harmony between plant and pot ▲expressiveness of the work's meaning ▲originality.

The judging panel consists of ▲Hwasun-gun appointed members ▲floriculture experts ▲and the Hwasun Succulent Association.

A county official stated, “We aim to provide a time for psychological stress relief and mental health recovery through succulents as companion plants, enhance Hwasun’s healing image, strengthen the competitiveness of companion plants, and contribute to the revitalization of succulent cultivation in Hwasun-gun.”
