National Pukyong National University has been selected as a 2023 Internationalization Competency Certified University by the Ministry of Education.
On the 3rd, Pukyong National University achieved certification for both degree programs and language training programs following the review by the Ministry of Education's Internationalization Competency Certification Committee. The certification period is three years, from March 2023 to February 2026.
The International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), implemented by the Ministry of Education, is a system that evaluates universities' internationalization capabilities and the management level of support for foreign students and grants certification accordingly.
Using the illegal stay rate as a basic indicator, degree programs are evaluated based on key indicators such as dropout rate, foreign students' tuition burden rate, medical insurance enrollment rate, and foreign students' official language proficiency (new and enrolled students).
Language training programs are evaluated based on key indicators including tuition burden rate, number of language trainees per class, medical insurance enrollment rate, and the proportion of Korean language teacher certification holders.
Since its first certification in 2014, Pukyong National University has consistently received certification for its internationalization competency and is recognized as an internationalized university with 1,661 foreign students from 71 countries enrolled in degree programs, exchange student programs, and language training programs as of October 2022.
With this certification, Pukyong National University will receive benefits such as simplified visa issuance procedures for foreign students, electronic visa issuance for prospective graduate students, and preferential participation in overseas Korean study fairs.
