On March 2nd, Park Hong-jae, Director of the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services, visited the Innovation Valley project site, toured the smart farm site, met directly with young people interested in agriculture, listened to their voices from the field, and shared agricultural issues of Gohung County.

On that day, Director Park introduced various cases of young people who settled in the region to the young trainees and encouraged and supported each of their dreams.

He also promised, "In the future, the Jeonnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services will actively respond to rapidly changing agricultural conditions and cooperate with Gohung County to establish a foundation for the independence of young farmers, striving to help young people settle stably."

The Gohung Smart Farm Innovation Valley operates a Smart Farm Youth Startup Incubation Center to nurture future agricultural talents.

Any young person who wishes to learn smart farm cultivation technology, regardless of their major, can apply, and 52 people are selected annually.

The Youth Startup Incubation Center provides specialized courses in smart farming and facility horticulture for 20 months.

Among the first batch who graduated last year, 11 have moved into rental-type smart farms and are cultivating tomatoes.

They started harvesting in November last year and produced about 200 tons by the end of February this year, achieving sales revenue of 500 million KRW.

The second and third batches, totaling 90 people, are undergoing management-type and education-type practical training, respectively.

A county official said, "In the future, we will expand the large-scale advanced agricultural, fishery, and livestock smart farm valley centered on the Smart Farm Innovation Valley to nurture more than 1,000 young job seekers and startup farmers, establish it as an export forward base, and lay the foundation for sustainable growth."
