Swearing and Assault Repeatedly Cause Noise Complaints Between Floors, Resolved with 'Handwritten Letters and Roll Cake'

"Grandpa, I'm Sorry" Children's Handwritten Letters
Downstairs Neighbor Gives 50,000 Won Saying "Play More" Warmly

"Grandfather earnestly asked. Don't be careful, just have fun playing."

Amid ongoing conflicts between residents due to apartment noise between floors, the upstairs and downstairs neighbors have warmly resolved the issue by exchanging gifts, creating a heartwarming impression.

According to a recent post on a local online community, Mr. A, who lives in an apartment in Seo-gu, Incheon, visited the downstairs neighbor's home one evening late last month. He delivered a handwritten letter and a small roll cake, in which the children expressed remorse for causing noise in letters written with their own names. It is also known that they wrote they would be careful about the noise and wished both grandfather and grandmother good health.

In a post on the community, Mr. A said, "The children are elementary and middle school students, so they are not very young, but when my nephews (7 years old and elementary school students) come to play on weekends, their voices get louder and they stomp around," adding, "I had never greeted them before and kept postponing it, but on the weekend, I quietly sat down and decided to write a letter of reflection."

He continued, "The children carefully wrote the letters, and I bought a small roll cake and went downstairs. I greeted them briefly, but they kept refusing to accept it, so I handed over the letter and quickly went back up," recounting the situation at the time.

Four days after he delivered the letter, on the 1st, he received a reply. The grandfather living downstairs delivered an envelope containing a handwritten letter and 50,000 won, saying, "Buy fried chicken for the children."

The elderly couple also sent a letter to the children, stating, "We were deeply moved upon receiving the letter." They added, "(The children) are growing up so well and properly. Grandfather earnestly asks. Don’t be careful now, just have fun playing. Grandfather’s granddaughters are in 6th and 3rd grade of elementary school. No one is home during the day," they wrote.

Mr. A shared photos of the elderly couple’s handwritten letter and the 50,000 won he received. He mentioned, "It’s been a long time since I experienced such warm feelings, so I wanted to share it. They are truly wonderful elders from whom I learn a lot. I plan to eat fried chicken with the children this weekend."

Netizens left comments on his post, saying, "The heart to write letters with the children is admirable, and the grandfather’s character is truly touching and the best," and "Good neighbors are really precious these days, I’m envious," among others.
