Participation in 'InterBattery 2023'
Korea Zinc announced on the 6th that it will participate in 'InterBattery 2023,' the largest domestic battery specialized exhibition held at COEX, Seoul, from the 15th to the 17th, to introduce its secondary battery materials business.
The exhibition hall is designed to allow visitors to see the entire flow of the battery industry at a glance, including nickel smelting, nickel sulfate manufacturing and precursors, and copper foil production. While explaining the battery cathode material value chain, it highlights Korea Zinc's strengths with the slogan "Building a competitive and integrated stable raw material supply chain for the growth of the eco-friendly electric vehicle industry."
In addition, Korea Zinc plans to demonstrate that it can secure raw minerals stably through a close network with global mining operators established through its smelting business, and that it can achieve price competitiveness and supply stability by directly smelting and producing nickel, a key battery raw material.
Furthermore, it will showcase battery recycling solutions that recover nickel, lithium, cobalt, and other materials from used batteries through dry-wet fusion recycling technology.
In the copper foil zone, Korea Zinc will emphasize its unique electrolysis technology developed over more than 50 years, including copper foil production technology and impurity suppression technology, and highlight that the electrolytic copper and other raw materials used in the copper foil manufacturing process are recycled products either as by-products of smelting production or 100% secondary raw materials. A model that faithfully reproduces copper foil will be exhibited to enhance visitors' understanding.
A Korea Zinc official said, "You will be able to see Korea Zinc’s rapidly growing secondary battery materials business at a glance," adding, "We will expand related businesses and actively utilize eco-friendly technologies to strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management for a sustainable future."
