Kim Dong-yeon: "Yoon Government's Forced Labor Compensation Plan Is Another Disaster"... Calls for Apology Text and photo posted by Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, on his SNS on the 6th

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon on the 6th described the government's announced 'Forced Labor Compensation Plan' as "another tragedy."

Governor Kim criticized on his social media (SNS) post titled "Another Tragedy" that day, saying, "The (Yoon Seok-yeol) government announced a forced labor compensation plan," and added, "While claiming to resolve historical issues, the 'victims' are missing."

He continued, "What the forced labor victims need is not simply monetary compensation," emphasizing, "Only when the perpetrator, the Japanese government and companies, acknowledge their wrongdoing and offer a sincere apology and compensation can their wounds begin to heal."

In particular, he stated, "The forced labor compensation plan announced by the government is another 'tragedy' that instantly nullifies the efforts of victims who have long fought to reveal the truth and have their rights recognized," and claimed, "The perpetrators have not compensated, and the perpetrator country has not apologized."

He also warned the government sternly, saying, "The government, which has emphasized 'law and principles,' has rendered our Supreme Court's final ruling meaningless," and "Do not mistake diplomacy as mere socializing to foster friendship with neighboring countries."

Furthermore, he urged, "The future-oriented improvement of Korea-Japan relations, as mentioned by the president, must thoroughly prioritize national interests and protect our citizens," and called on the government to "apologize to the victims and our people for the humiliating compensation plan before it is too late and prepare a proper solution."
