Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on the 6th that it has entered an "Emergency Safety Management System" to establish an absolute safety system and stabilize the organization.
On the morning of the 6th, Korail held a nationwide video conference at its Daejeon headquarters and declared an emergency safety management system to establish an absolute safety system and stabilize the organization.
On this day, KORAIL held a video conference at its Daejeon headquarters attended by the heads of headquarters, offices, and divisions, as well as affiliated leaders nationwide, to declare the emergency safety management system.
KORAIL announced key measures including adherence to basic compliance and strengthening internal inspection activities to ensure absolute safety and strict work discipline under the acting president system.
To this end, it decided to focus on △ establishing an absolute safety system through thorough adherence to basic compliance △ promoting organizational stabilization by establishing work discipline △ building a rational labor-management relationship based on law and principles △ striving for management improvement to normalize operations.
In particular, KORAIL will actively implement the "Railroad Safety Enhancement Measures" announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in January, and establish more meticulous internal safety measures such as strengthening safe train operations and expanding customer safety facilities to realize an absolute safety system.
It will establish public service discipline and respond with a zero-tolerance policy toward acts such as sexual misconduct, abuse of power, and corruption.
The labor-management relationship will be based on legitimate exercise of management rights that does not compromise with wrongful practices or demands against principles, aiming to build a rational labor-management relationship in accordance with law and principles.
To normalize management, KORAIL will faithfully carry out the government's "Public Institution Innovation Plan Improvement Tasks." Along with this, it will strive to achieve operating surpluses through self-help efforts such as business diversification and cost control.
On this day, the management reiterated that providing safe and reliable railroad services and creating a workplace free of industrial accidents are top priorities, and all executives and employees pledged to do their best to achieve "Zero Major Accidents."
Earlier, since the 28th of last month, KORAIL has been fully committed to safety management by implementing emergency duty for executives at level 2 and above on holidays to respond immediately to emergency situations.
Ko Jun-young, Acting President of KORAIL, stated, "I once again apologize for the great inconvenience and concern caused to the public due to last year's railroad accidents," and expressed his determination, saying, "All executives and employees will do their utmost to secure absolute safety without wavering in order to regain the trust of the people."
