Dong-A Pharmaceutical was praised for significantly contributing to the expansion of the literary base and the discovery of female writers in Korea by continuously sponsoring the Marronnier Women's Writing Contest, hosted by the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service, for 40 years.
The Marronnier Women's Writing Contest is the oldest women's writing contest in Korea, open to any woman interested in literature. It is a writing competition that selects outstanding works in poetry, prose, and children's literature (children's poems and stories) based on the theme chosen on the day of the contest. Through this contest, more than 1,000 female writers have been discovered to date.
Last year, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Women's Marronnier Writing Contest, a collection of major award-winning works from the past five years titled "On Days When the Heart Feels Blue, Take a Walk on the Street" was published.
A representative from Dong-A Pharmaceutical said, "This award was possible because of the many female writers who showed great interest in the Marronnier Women's Writing Contest," adding, "We will continue to make greater efforts to expand the literary base in Korea through continuous support and encouragement in the fields of culture and arts."
