Land Rover Launches 8-Seater Off-Roader 'Defender 130' in Korea

Jaguar Land Rover Korea announced on the 6th that it will officially launch the 8-seater off-roader All-New Defender 130 in the domestic market.

The Land Rover All-New Defender 130 (hereinafter Defender 130) offers spacious interior space that can accommodate up to 8 passengers and innovative all-terrain technology. In Korea, it will be released in two trims: the Defender 130 P400 X Dynamic HSE model equipped with a mild hybrid (MHEV) gasoline engine, and the Defender 130 D300 X Dynamic HSE model equipped with an efficient MHEV diesel engine.

The Defender 130 makes a strong impression with its long overall length and high body. Despite the long length, it provides a 37.5° approach angle and a 28.5° departure angle through short front and rear overhangs. Additionally, the Sedona Red color option, exclusive to the Defender 130 model, adds a special touch.

The Defender 130 extends the rear overhang (the distance from the rear axle to the end of the body) by approximately 340 mm compared to the Defender 110. This allowed for a spacious third row seat that can comfortably accommodate three adults. The seats are arranged in a 2-3-3 configuration, allowing up to 8 adults to sit. Even with the third row seats unfolded, it offers 389 liters of trunk space. When both the second and third rows are folded, the cargo space reaches 2,291 liters.

The electronic air suspension system applied to all Defender 130 models can raise the ground clearance up to 430 mm for off-road driving. It offers a maximum wading depth of 900 mm. Also, when the seatbelt is unfastened, the air suspension automatically lowers the ground clearance to assist comfortable entry and exit.

In addition, the latest technologies are standard, including a two-speed transfer box that provides precise and accurate speed control in situations such as steep inclines, off-road driving, and towing; a fully automatic Terrain Response system that allows manual setting of driving conditions based on terrain and road surface; and an active rear locking differential that delivers optimal traction and off-road escape performance under challenging driving conditions such as icy or sandy surfaces, off-road driving, and high-speed cornering.

The Defender 130 is equipped with Ingenium 3.0ℓ I6 gasoline and diesel engines featuring MHEV technology. The gasoline engine produces a maximum output of 400 PS and a maximum torque of 56.1 kg·m. It takes only 6.6 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h. The diesel engine delivers a maximum output of 300 PS and a maximum torque of 66.3 kg·m, reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in 7.5 seconds.

The Defender 130 is equipped with an 11.4-inch curved glass screen. The latest infotainment system 'PIVI Pro' applied here offers excellent connectivity. 90% of all functions can be accessed with just two touches. It comes with built-in T-map navigation for enhanced convenience. Drivers can check routes through a high-definition 12.3-inch interactive driver display. Additionally, the SOTA (Software-Over-the-Air) feature allows the vehicle to be kept up to date without visiting a service center.

The domestic launch price, including a 5-year service plan package, is KRW 142.17 million for the P400 X Dynamic HSE model and KRW 137.07 million for the D300 X Dynamic HSE model.

Robin Colgan, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover Korea, said, "The All-New Defender is an off-roader equipped with cutting-edge technology and outstanding performance that excites adventurers' hearts. We hope you experience Land Rover's adventurous spirit through the Defender 130, which allows comfortable travel with the whole family with seating for up to 8 people."
