Ulsan City Supports Installation of CCTV to Prevent Elder Abuse in 'Care Facilities'

Proactive Measures for Day and Night Care Facilities Missing National Funding Applications

Ulsan City will support the installation costs of CCTV in day and night care facilities to prevent elder abuse and ensure the safety of residents.

This is a proactive measure separate from the mandatory installation of CCTV in long-term care institutions, which will be enforced starting June 22. It is an administrative action to prevent elder abuse and ensure the safety of residents in day and night care facilities, which are excluded from the 53 elder medical welfare facilities legally required to install CCTV with national funding support.

The installation targets are 50 facilities out of 116 day and night care facilities (as of the end of January), excluding 63 facilities that voluntarily installed CCTV and 3 facilities scheduled to close. The CCTV will be installed in living rooms, program rooms, physical therapy rooms, and other areas where users mainly stay.

Ulsan City plans to invest 51 million KRW of city funds to support CCTV installation from March to December.

An official from Ulsan City said, “We expect this to have the effect of providing stable services not only to users but also to staff, and reducing the potential for disputes.”
