More than 400 Staff Members Working Across 18 Medical Departments
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province announced on the 6th that it signed a business agreement for the prompt relocation and reconstruction of Geochang Red Cross Hospital at the county office situation room, attended by County Governor Goo In-mo, Shin Hee-young, President of the Korean Red Cross, and Baek Jong-cheol, Director of Health Administration of Gyeongsangnam-do.
The main content of this agreement is that Geochang-gun and the Korean Red Cross will cooperate in securing and developing land for the relocation and reconstruction of the regional responsible medical institution, and strive to shorten the project period and open early to meet the expectations of the residents.
The county will proceed with site development and administrative procedures, while the Red Cross will focus on responding to the preliminary feasibility study and architectural aspects, sharing roles to accelerate the project.

In particular, this is the first agreement signed among the three cities and counties nationwide that are promoting the relocation and reconstruction projects of Red Cross hospitals, and it is the result of proactive measures to lay the foundation for providing reliable and high-quality medical services in the medically underserved western Gyeongnam region.
Governor Goo said, “Through this agreement, we will ensure that the relocation and reconstruction project of the regional responsible medical institution, which is the core of the Geochang-type Medical Welfare Town development project pledged in the 8th local government term, can be realized early,” adding, “We plan to focus administrative efforts on completing the Medical Welfare Town by jointly establishing a public postpartum care center and a Happy Mom Community Center, which are highly anticipated by residents, and providing high-quality medical services.”
According to the preliminary feasibility study conducted by the Red Cross, the hospital will have 18 medical departments, 300 beds, and more than 400 staff members, and the application for the preliminary feasibility study by the Ministry of Economy and Finance is scheduled for September.
A county official said, “To respond to the Ministry of Economy and Finance’s preliminary feasibility study, securing land and changing land use zones are urgent administrative procedures,” and added, “We will do our best to be selected and pass the preliminary feasibility study project.”
