"An's Inconsistent Security View
Cheon’s Dangerous Security View"
Hwang Kyo-ahn, a candidate for the leadership of the People Power Party's March 8 party convention, continued his offensive on the 5th, calling for an investigation and resignation over allegations of 'land price speculation near Ulsan KTX station' against candidate Kim Ki-hyun. He also criticized candidates Ahn Cheol-soo and Chun Ha-ram, calling them indecisive and having dangerous security views, respectively.
On the same day, Hwang held a press conference at the Daehwa Building camp in Yeouido, stating, "Candidate Kim acquired 35,000 pyeong of forest land near the controversial KTX Ulsan station in 1998 from Mr. Kim Jeong-gon, amid speculation of speculation. Candidate Kim has explained that he bought the land to help a church acquaintance whose business was struggling, but it is hard to logically accept that someone whose business was struggling bought the land 11 days before selling it again."
He added, "The suspicious relationship between candidate Kim and redevelopment association head Kim Jeong-gon continued until 2017, reaching its peak," and explained, "According to the media, redevelopment association head Kim Jeong-gon unusually received urban development project approval (authorization) in a short period in 2017 while candidate Kim was serving as mayor of Ulsan."
He continued, "It is inevitable to suspect that candidate Kim gave special favors, such as approving Kim Jeong-gon's redevelopment project unusually quickly, as compensation for tangible or intangible help in increasing his wealth through real estate," and said, "An investigation must be conducted promptly to reveal the truth. If candidate Kim truly cares about the country, the party, and the president, he should resign immediately."
Regarding candidate Ahn Cheol-soo, Hwang referred to past remarks, saying, "He once advocated for the resumption of tours to Mount Kumgang and the Kaesong Industrial Complex despite the lack of an apology or promise to prevent recurrence from North Korea." He criticized, "Security issues are extremely important as they are directly related to the lives of the people, but candidate Ahn, who wavers on such issues, is not yet ready to lead a traditional conservative party. He appears to be an opportunist who chases only opportunities without conviction or values."
Regarding candidate Chun Ha-ram's remark at the Gangwon joint speech event that "there will be zero tolerance for outdated colorism that does not meet the people's expectations," Hwang described it as a 'dangerous security view.' He said, "Security collapses from such perceptions," and questioned, "Who exactly does he intend to show zero tolerance to? This is a very dangerous judgment. We must have zero tolerance for North Korea's nuclear provocations."
Regarding Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon, who recently alleged that Hwang received 5 billion won in exchange for nominations during his tenure as leader of the United Future Party, Hwang fiercely countered, "He not only defamed me with blatant lies through information and communication networks with the intent to slander me but also maliciously interfered in the party leadership election process to lower my approval ratings."
He stated, "I will never tolerate such groundless slander and will pursue legal action to the end to ensure he receives appropriate punishment."
