"Too Bad It Can't Be Released to the World"
"Still, It Definitely Deserves Criticism"
Fellow actors affected by Yoo Ah-in's drug allegations have repeatedly expressed their frustration. It is known that Yoo Ah-in starred in three works scheduled for release or premiere this year: the film High Five, the Netflix film Seungbu, and the Netflix web drama Jongmal-ui Babo (The Fool at the End). In particular, the production companies of Seungbu and Jongmal-ui Babo were reportedly weighing the timing of their release with Netflix.
However, the situation became irreparable after it was revealed that four types of drugs?marijuana, propofol, cocaine, and ketamine?were detected, and that Yoo Ah-in had been prescribed propofol 73 times in 2021 alone, receiving a total of 4497㎖. As the completed works became unable to be released, the co-actors have been voicing their grievances on various social media platforms.
On the 4th, actor Hyun Bong-sik posted on Instagram, “Mixed feelings of sadness and regret. I want to see the film Seungbu. I really want to see it. This time, it’s not a lie.” Actress Moon Jung-hee commented, “Me too,” and Hyun Bong-sik replied again, “I’m really upset.”
Actor Kim Young-woong, who appeared alongside Yoo Ah-in in the Netflix series Jongmal-ui Babo, also lamented on Instagram, “The joyful phone call about the casting news and the heart-fluttering memories of the first shoot are all about to go up in smoke.” He expressed regret while mentioning the many staff members who gathered with patience and sacrifice like grains of millet, the actors who united tightly to bring each character to life, and the director who was more earnest than anyone else. He also mentioned the writer who did not stop writing even while battling illness and the production company that took care of the set until the end, all of whom worked together for the project. “If his wrongful actions are true, he is certainly subject to condemnation. I have no intention of defending or excusing him. Naturally, he must pay the price,” he wrote. “However, I am only saddened that Jongmal-ui Babo, which was about to be born through the hard work and sacrifice of so many people, might never see the light of day.”
The Netflix drama series Hellbound, which achieved remarkable success in season 1, has replaced its cast ahead of season 2 production. Actor Kim Sung-chul joined the cast for season 2, replacing Yoo Ah-in, who played Chairman Jung Jin-soo in season 1.
