‘Environment, Living, and Safety’ Improvements Planned for 50 Locations This Year

Ulsan City has completed the housing and living environment improvement project for low-income disabled and elderly people that was carried out last year.

On the 5th, Ulsan City announced that a total of 47 households were repaired under the "2022 Low-Income Disabled and Elderly Housing Convenience Support Project."

A project budget of 215 million KRW was invested in this project, and customized home repairs were carried out for a total of 47 households (23 disabled households, 24 elderly households) covering 81 cases. By district and county, there were 9 households in Jung-gu, 9 in Nam-gu, 10 in Dong-gu, 11 in Buk-gu, and 8 in Ulju-gun.

The housing convenience support project includes △ creating a barrier-free living environment △ improving living conditions △ enhancing housing safety.

Under the creation of a barrier-free living environment, 29 cases were improved, including lowering door thresholds and installing ramps, installing safety handrails, remodeling sinks, and removing floor height differences.

Additionally, the living environment improvement project involved maintenance of bathrooms, replacement of entrance doors, installation of sensor lights, wallpaper and flooring replacement, totaling 40 cases.

For housing safety improvements, 12 cases were carried out, including installation of fire and gas detectors and automatic gas shut-off valves.

Started for the first time in 2022, this project carries out renovation work considering each individual's residence and living environment, as well as the type of disability, resulting in high satisfaction among the beneficiaries.

Last year, Ulsan City designed plans to minimize inconvenience in daily life after thorough on-site inspections based on the applicants' desired improvements in the living environment.

For example, for disabled persons using wheelchairs, customized sinks were installed in kitchens, ramps at entrances, and digital remote control door locks on doors to ensure no inconvenience in wheelchair use.

This year, Ulsan City will also promote the project targeting a total of 50 households through recruitment announcements by district and county from March to April. The application period can be found on the respective district and county websites.
