"Eom Seok-dae's Small Kingdom Ultimately Collapses"
Former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok compared President Yoon Seok-yeol to 'Eom Seok-dae,' the protagonist of the novel Our Twisted Hero, and appealed for support for the candidates of 'Cheon-A-Yong-In (Cheon Ha-ram, Heo Eun-ah, Kim Yong-tae, Lee Gi-in),' who are in the same position as 'Han Byeong-tae.'
On the 3rd, Lee held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office and said, "I want to revisit the meaning of this party convention," explaining his remarks.
He opened fire by saying, "This party only receives support from the people's taxes but restricts the majority of the people's voting rights by not reflecting the people's will in the selection of leaders," adding, "Whenever someone tries to freely decide to run, a huge hand appears and strikes with a big whip, and hyenas that rush in tear at the petition sheets, depriving the right to be elected."
He then referred to the book Our Twisted Hero. He said, "I did not know the world well enough to grasp the implications of this book, but I clearly remembered the three-letter name: 'Eom Seok-dae.'"
Lee explained, "Eom Seok-dae was, in form, a class president elected through a somewhat democratic procedure," but "Eom Seok-dae took the children's belongings and created his own rules to punish them." He added, "The protagonist, Han Byeong-tae, who transferred from Seoul to a rural class, tried hard to resist, but the children labeled Han Byeong-tae as an internal informant and bullied him."
He continued, "Later, a new teacher began to examine one by one the things Eom Seok-dae had done to maintain his power," and said, "The homeroom teacher scolded Eom Seok-dae for being bad, but even the children who were key associates of Eom Seok-dae were punished with five strikes each. Who is Eom Seok-dae in today's People Power Party? Who are the key associates of Eom Seok-dae?" he questioned sharply.
He said, "I will leave it to your imagination, but one thing is clear: the homeroom teacher is the people," adding, "After the new homeroom teacher came, the class was viewed from the perspective of common sense, and Eom Seok-dae's small kingdom collapsed."
Lee said that the Cheon-A-Yong-In candidates stand in the same position as Han Byeong-tae. He said, "They are attacked by those who accepted being incorporated into Eom Seok-dae's order because they refused to swear loyalty to a person," and appealed, "Please allow the new Han Byeong-tae?Cheon Ha-ram, Heo Eun-ah, Kim Yong-tae, and Lee Gi-in?to have greater power to point out the problems of the system that Eom Seok-dae is trying to build on behalf of the people."
Lee said, "Your vote can change the ending of the novel," and expressed hope that it would become the ending of The King's Ears Are Donkey's Ears, where the king throws off the hat that covered his ears to better hear the voice of the people and becomes a wise ruler.
