‘Busan Yebit School,’ which will provide customized educational opportunities for general high school students aspiring to pursue careers in the arts, will open on the 3rd.
Busan Metropolitan Office of Education held the ‘Inauguration Ceremony of the First Principal Kang Byung-su and Entrance Ceremony’ at the auditorium of Busan Yebit School in Ilgwang-eup, Gijang-gun at 1 p.m. on the 3rd.
This school is a commissioned public school established at the former Ilgwang Elementary School, which relocated to Ilgwang New Town, operating an arts education curriculum focused on practical skills and hands-on training, specializing in the arts field.
In November last year, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education recruited commissioned students among general high school students in the Busan area who wish to pursue careers in the arts and are expected to advance to the 3rd grade in the 2023 academic year. This year, 55 students in six classes majoring in Fine Arts and Music will receive commissioned education.
The teaching staff of this school is composed of local experts, and all expenses related to classes and practical training are fully supported by the school, so there is no financial burden on individual students. A weekend after-school program for 1st and 2nd grade high school students other than commissioned students is also planned.
Considering the school’s location 1.6 km from Donghae Line Ilgwang Station, a shuttle service from Ilgwang Station to the school will be operated to support students’ commuting. A dormitory currently under construction for long-distance commuting students is also scheduled to be completed in September this year.
Jung Dae-ho, Director of Secondary Education at the City Office of Education, said, “The newly opened ‘Busan Yebit School’ will play the role of a complex arts space that will greatly contribute to nurturing talents in music and fine arts and expanding the base of arts education in partnership with the local community.”
