The 57th Taxpayer's Day Ceremony
President Attends for the First Time in 53 Years to Present Awards Personally
The government awarded 568 individuals for their contributions to exemplary tax payment and tax administration cooperation in celebration of 'Taxpayer's Day' and selected 1,035 exemplary taxpayers.
On the 3rd, the government announced that it held the '57th Taxpayer's Day' commemorative ceremony at the COEX Convention Center with honorees who contributed to faithful tax payment and tax administration cooperation.
The event was attended by 1,000 people, including recipients of commendations such as exemplary taxpayers, their families, and government officials. President Yoon Suk-yeol personally presented awards such as orders and medals to exemplary taxpayers. This marks the first time in 53 years that a president has attended the Taxpayer's Day ceremony to express gratitude to taxpayers.
Taxpayer's Day was established in 1967 to express appreciation for the public's faithful tax payment and cooperation with tax administration, and to promote sound tax awareness through tax publicity.
This year, a total of 568 people were awarded for their contributions to exemplary tax payment and tax administration cooperation. The Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to Lee Deok-han, CEO of Ssanggom, and the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit was awarded to Hwang Chang-yeon, CEO of Kukbo Design. No Tae-jong, CEO of Kyungchang Industry; Bae Ji-su, CEO of YJC; and Moon Chi-sung, CEO of Mapro, received the Bronze Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit.
On this day, eight companies received the 'High Taxpayer's Tower' awards. ▲Kia Corporation received the 'National Tax 700 Billion Won Tower' ▲Mirae Asset Securities Co., Ltd. received the 'National Tax 400 Billion Won Tower' ▲Kumho Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. received the 'National Tax 300 Billion Won Tower' ▲Kumho P&B Chemicals Co., Ltd. and SK Enmove Co., Ltd. received the 'National Tax 200 Billion Won Tower' ▲Ecopro Innovation Co., Ltd. and Hyundai Doosan Infracore Co., Ltd. each received the 'National Tax 100 Billion Won Tower.'
The National Tax Service selected 1,035 exemplary taxpayers nationwide. The National Tax Service plans to attend the KBS Open Concert with the exemplary taxpayers and appoint celebrities Kim Soo-hyun and Song Ji-hyo, who were selected as exemplary taxpayers, as promotional ambassadors.
Exemplary taxpayers receive benefits such as 'preferential treatment in tax administration,' including ▲postponement of tax audits ▲choice of timing for regular audits ▲exemption from tax payment guarantees, as well as 'social preferential treatment' benefits such as ▲railway fare discounts ▲trade insurance benefits ▲airport immigration privileges ▲free use of public parking lots.
