Products Identical to Those Sold Domestically
Kuksundang announced on the 3rd that its Makgeolli product ‘Kuksundang Chilsung Maksa,’ created in collaboration with Lotte Chilsung Beverage’s Chilsung Cider, has started selling locally in the United States.
This is the third time Kuksundang has exported a Makgeolli collaboration product. Last year, Kuksundang exported ‘Kuksundang Rice Joripongdang’ and ‘Kuksundang Rice Babambambam’ to the U.S., both of which sold out completely. Kuksundang Chilsung Maksa is the first overseas expansion since its launch in May last year.
The Kuksundang Chilsung Maksa exported to the U.S. is the same product as the one sold domestically. Based on Kuksundang’s fermentation technology and the core know-how of the taste of Chilsung Cider, which has over 70 years of history, this product replicates the ‘cider Makgeolli’ flavor that consumers experience when they mix cider directly into Makgeolli and drink it. After two rounds of rice fermentation, the soft taste of rice can be enjoyed in Kuksundang Makgeolli, combined with the refreshing taste of Chilsung Cider, delivering the unique smooth and refreshing flavor of cider Makgeolli.
The design of the product for U.S. export also retains the domestic version’s look. The product name and other elements are expressed in Hangul as is, making it intuitively recognizable as a Korean product. The logos of Kuksundang Makgeolli and Chilsung Cider are used, and the overall design features a star shape on a green background, evoking a strong sense of refreshment.
A Kuksundang representative said, “The previously exported Makgeolli collaboration products gained popularity in the U.S., and this time, Kuksundang Chilsung Maksa, which commercializes the Maksa enjoyed by mixing Makgeolli with Chilsung Cider, has entered the U.S. market. We plan to continuously introduce new and diverse flavors of the traditional Korean liquor Makgeolli to the global market.”
