Daewoo E&C announced on the 3rd that it has received the Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC) for the construction of the Ras Djinet Combined Cycle Power Plant (RDPP PJ), commissioned by the Algerian Electricity Production Company. The Provisional Acceptance Certificate is a document issued by the client when all construction work has been completed and approved.
A Daewoo E&C official explained, "It is significant that among the eight power plant construction sites of six domestic companies currently underway in Algeria, which were commissioned from the end of 2012 to 2014, we were the first to receive the PAC."
The project began construction at the end of 2012, but civil engineering and architectural works supplied by the client were delayed, and later the COVID-19 pandemic also impacted the schedule, resulting in an extended construction period. The Daewoo E&C official said, "Despite the worst external environment, our employees have persevered and continued the construction, and through receiving this PAC, the company’s reliability and project execution capability have been recognized."
The Ras Djinet Combined Cycle Power Plant in Algeria is a gas combined cycle power plant construction project contracted in 2013. It involves building a large-scale 1,200MW (three units of 400MW each) combined cycle power plant in the Cap Djinet area of Boumerdes Province, approximately 65 km east of Algiers, the capital of Algeria. The project was commissioned by the Algerian Electricity Production Company (SPE), a power generation subsidiary of Sonelgaz, the Algerian electricity and gas company, with a contract amount of approximately 984.4 billion KRW.
A Daewoo E&C official stated, “Although the Ras Djinet Combined Cycle Power Plant construction project faced many difficulties due to various external factors, it is highly meaningful that we did not give up and completed the construction to deliver it to the client, thereby enhancing the company’s external trust and gaining recognition for our technical capabilities.” He added, “At a time when the importance of overseas projects is increasing, this trust and technical expertise are expected to serve as a great asset.”
