Youth Artist Workspace in Jamsil Hangang Park
The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Hangang Project Headquarters announced on the 3rd that it is recruiting five teams of young artists to carry out artistic activities at ‘Sagaksagak Place’ located in Jamsil Hangang Park, creating the Hangang Park as a cultural space in everyday life together.
‘Sagaksagak Place’ is an art workspace within Hangang Park established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in 2018. It serves as a stable foundation for creative activities, a communication channel with citizens, and a creative base for young artists.
The resident young artists will use one container unit with a view of the Hangang River as their studio and can receive support for various facilities and equipment.
The recruitment target is individuals or groups aged 19 to 39 with Korean nationality who engage in creative activities in fields such as fine arts, music, theater, dance, publishing, etc., under Article 2 of the Cultural Arts Promotion Act.
Eligibility requires that applicants ▲can conduct artistic creation activities and collaborate with other young artists in one container unit, ▲can promote cultural and artistic experience and communication programs for citizens at least once a month, and ▲can open their artistic creation activities to the public.
Resident artists can engage in various activities including creating works based on cultural arts, lectures, performances, and live broadcasts. Especially from this year, three festivals will be held in spring, summer, and fall at Sagaksagak Place.
In addition to space utilization, various benefits necessary for creation and communication such as opportunities for exchange and collaboration among residents and equipment rental will be provided.
Artists who wish to join ‘Sagaksagak Place’ can visit the Hangang Project Headquarters of Seoul Metropolitan Government (257 Gangbyeonbuk-ro, Seongdong-gu) to submit their documents on the 13th from 9 AM to 6 PM.
Juyongtae, head of the Seoul Hangang Project Headquarters, said, “‘Sagaksagak Place’ supports the growth of young artists and strives to allow citizens visiting Hangang Park to experience culture and arts up close.” He added, “We hope many talented young artists will show interest and participate in this new resident artist recruitment.”
