Economic Revitalization, Job Creation, and Achievements in Five Sectors
Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that it won the 'Grand Prize' at the 14th Gwangju-Jeonnam Local Autonomy Management Awards ceremony held at the Bentley Hotel in Gwangju on February 28.
The Local Autonomy Management Awards select and honor outstanding local governments among 27 basic local governments in Gwangju and Jeonnam in seven categories: ▲administrative services ▲creative innovation ▲culture and tourism ▲health and welfare ▲economic revitalization and job creation ▲safety and environment ▲human resource development.
Since the launch of the 8th elected administration, Goheung-gun has achieved significant results including ▲securing government budgets driving regional development such as 324 billion KRW in national funds, 545.9 billion KRW in local allocation tax, and 161.2 billion KRW in public contest projects ▲establishing a future growth foundation such as designation of a space launch vehicle industry cluster and signing a 200 billion KRW investment agreement with LF Co., Ltd. ▲creating residents' income through a 5.3 million USD export agreement for Goheung agricultural specialties and holding local festivals linked to residents' income ▲expanding senior job projects, operating a dedicated primary care physician system for the elderly, and supporting free preventive vaccinations for those aged 65 and over.
In particular, in this Local Autonomy Management Awards evaluation, Goheung-gun received high marks for ▲promoting kindness, integrity, and branding of Goheung-gun ▲efforts to attract large-scale tourism investments and holding festivals linked to residents' income ▲making Goheung a good place for seniors to live ▲revitalizing the region through fostering and supporting advanced agriculture, fisheries, livestock, and aerospace (drone) industries ▲strengthening disaster preparedness capabilities such as CPR training for all employees.
Gong Young-min, Governor of Goheung-gun, said, “Based on Goheung's infinite development potential, we will lead change and development in the county,” and added, “We will focus administrative power to improve residents' lives to the next level through creating quality jobs by attracting large-scale national projects and companies.”
Meanwhile, Goheung-gun is fully committed to realizing the vision of “Establishing a population base of 100,000 in 10 years” by prioritizing ▲creating a space launch vehicle industry cluster ▲building Goheung as a drone-centered city ▲constructing a highway between Gwangju and Naro Space Center ▲building tourism infrastructure through selection and concentration ▲branding and developing sales channels for agricultural, fishery, and livestock products.
