Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai Motor) has started hiring new production workers for the first time in 10 years, causing a surge of applicants on the recruitment website and resulting in access disruptions that have lasted for several hours.


As of 2 PM on the 2nd, when accessing Hyundai Motor's recruitment website, a notice appears stating, "Waiting to access Hyundai Motor recruitment portal," along with a message saying, "There are many applicants waiting ahead. Due to high traffic, you are in a queue. Please wait a moment, and you will be automatically connected to the Hyundai Motor recruitment portal."

Hyundai Motor is recruiting 400 new technical workers for the first half of this year from today until the 12th. This marks the first time in 10 years since 2013 that Hyundai Motor has hired production workers.


The recruitment website experienced access difficulties as soon as it opened at 9 AM due to a flood of applicants. At one point, the waiting queue exceeded 20,000 people.

The average annual salary for Hyundai Motor technical workers was 96 million KRW as of 2021. With a high salary and a guaranteed retirement age of 60, it is known as a "dream workplace" among job seekers.


Online communities related to work and employment are buzzing with excitement over this Hyundai Motor recruitment. Not only job seekers but also current employees are showing great interest.


On the anonymous employee community Blind, posts such as "Hyundai Motor King Production Worker (a portmanteau of 'King' and 'Production Worker,' meaning the best among production workers) recruitment announcement is out," and "Hyundai Motor production work is better than a grade 7 public official" have been posted one after another.


A netizen who identified as a public enterprise employee wrote a post expressing concern, saying, "I am an office worker but planning to transfer to Hyundai Motor production work," and another netizen who identified as an employee of a large corporation posted, "I graduated from a four-year university in the Seoul area and work in an office job; can I get into this production job?"


Applications will be accepted on Hyundai Motor's recruitment website until the 12th. The announcement of successful applicants for the document screening will be made at the end of March.


The interview process will be conducted in two rounds: the first round from April to early June, and the second round from May to the end of June.


Each round includes a first interview, aptitude test, second interview, and physical examination. Final successful candidates will be announced in July, followed by onboarding training, with placement at the worksite scheduled between September and October.


In particular, the "Hyundai Motor Mobility Technical Workforce Recruitment" is open to anyone with a high school diploma or higher. There are no restrictions on age or gender, but male applicants must have completed or been exempted from military service.


Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor defines this recruitment as "Mobility Technical Workforce Recruitment" and plans to select talented individuals with diverse skills and expertise to actively respond to industry trend changes such as vehicle electrification and manufacturing technology innovation.


A Hyundai Motor official stated, "Since this is the first technical worker recruitment in 10 years, we plan to conduct the process fairly and transparently."
