Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jong-man) announced on the 2nd that it will operate the 'Farm Machinery Rental Office Regular Duty System' for a total of six months annually during the farming seasons from March to June (four months in the first half) and October to November (two months in the second half) in 2023.
The purpose of promoting the regular duty system during the busy farming season is to alleviate the difficulties faced by farmers due to labor shortages and rising labor costs by extending the working hours of the farm machinery rental offices, thereby promoting the active use of farm machinery and improving efficiency.
With the transition to the regular duty system, the three farm machinery rental offices will advance the rental machinery dispatch (start) time from 9 a.m. to 8 a.m., and a total of 24 operating personnel will be divided into two teams and deployed on-site.
Ko Yoon-ja, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "We must strengthen the farm machinery rental offices to ensure there are no inconveniences in using farm machinery during the busy farming season and pay attention to preventing farm machinery safety accidents."
Meanwhile, to facilitate smooth use on Saturdays and public holidays in addition to weekdays, the county encourages the use of the 'Advance Rental Machinery Dispatch System,' which allows farm machinery to be dispatched at 5 p.m. on the day before holidays. Starting from the second half of 2023, the dispatch time for the advance dispatch system will be moved forward to 4 p.m. to further enhance convenience for farmers.
